for husband Marital Status: Married No. of Children: 2 Favorite high school memory?: Hanging out with Meagan McAuley and Colleen Smith. Movies at the Tivoli. Running into school almost every morning with Meagan and Colleen because I drove and was always running late... Most memorable experience since high school?: College was a fantastic experience, but hands down marriage and children is the best thing that's happened in my life. Those of you who took German 101 and 102 with me will get a laugh out of this. I absolutely hated German class. It was the ultimate "when am I ever going to use this" class. Well, I married an Austrian and now I live in a home where some German is spoken every day. I'm far from fluent, but I've come a long way, Herr Jontry. From Sue: Wow - I've had so much fun reading these classmate updates. I'm posting an update on my life, but I won't be at the reunion because of a previous commitment. |

Engineer Website: www.gehealthcare.com/usen - /cardiology/index.html Marital Status: Married No. of Children: 3 What song or TV show reminds you of high school?: Simple minds.. Don't You (Forget About Me) Favorite high school memory?: There are so many but unfortunately not repeatable on this site. LOL High school was a continuous blast for me. I was always causing trouble or getting into trouble. Yes, back then that was my MO. Man, I hope nobody has me on a list of people they want to kill before they go out in a blaze of glory. Oh well, I'll take my chances.. See you there!! Most memorable experience since high school?: By far, having children has and continues to be my greatest experience.. Ok I can see that there is a pattern of this for others on this site...However, it's nice to see that other classmates have experienced the same. From Matthew: Well, Jason Landers ( Flanders ) gave me a shout and tipped the scales for me in favor of going. (Glad to see that my introduction of drugs to him didn't totally ruin his image of me). Ok..enough fun. Wow!! Dig that kid with the sweet mustache and mullet!! LOL..I cant believe I still have my old senior DGN i.d. It is truly amazing how quick 20 years goes by. When you have children it seems to fly by even faster. Good to see many faces I recognize. Hope to see more in Oct. Cheers!! |

Occupation: Professor of Mathematics
Education Marital Status: Married No. of Children: 3 Favorite high school memory?: Waiting for puberty... although prom, gymnastics (I still have/use my "Go for it!" keychain), and getting suspended for trying to go out for lunch on 18th birthday in the second semester of my senior year stick out too. Most memorable experience since high school?: Waiting for puberty... and other life changing experiences like marriage to Joanna (I married up), the birth of my three beautiful children (Maiya, Evan and Elena), and mission trips to Zimbabwe, Romania and Alaska were amazingly special too. From Paul: Still waiting for puberty as I long to finally buy clothes in the men's department, although I do have to shave every other day now... In the meantime my family lives in West Michigan in Grand Haven in the greater Grand Rapids area. Since our 10th reunion (where you all met Joanna) I had three kids, finished my PhD in Mathematics Education from ISU and took a faculty position at Grand Valley State University. Unfortunately, I'm the kind of Doctor that (a) really can't help people, and (b) doesn't make a lot of money, but I do get the month of May off too, which is a step up from June, July and August, the top three reasons I went into high school teaching in the first place. Honestly, 20 years ago in Mrs. Walker's Calculus BC class, I made the decision to be a high school math teacher and am fortunate enough to have a career that I still can't believe I get paid to do. When I'm not in the classroom, I'm still doing art (ceramic pottery), still playing music (leading worship at my church), and still doing gymnastics (as I coach my 3 year old's class). I can't wait to see as many of you that can make it! This website has thrown me into moments of nostelga as I recall the sights, sounds and smells of my high school experience that while 20 years past, seems like yesterday... like wearing black on spirit day, which in hindsight was really a reflection of true class solidarity and creativity... or choosing for your prom king a short Asian kid that went through high school for 3 and half years in social anonymity, but was thrown on the ballot by a group of friends that were really thinking outside of the social box; a thought that was supported by many of you in the class. Its a fond thought not because of some artificially created individual significance of my being prom king, rather the fondness lies in my memories of the friends and fellow classmates that were willing to step outside of the norm to create a real life John Hughes moment... (Anthony Michael Hall would have been proud!) See you this Fall! Cheers, Paul ps - The teenaged Asian girl in our family picture is Jin Kim, a Korean high school exchange student that is staying with us for the year... when she saw my senior picture in my yearbook, she burst out in laughter. I guess it was my haircut :) |
